The mission of Gainesville Preparatory School can be encapsulated in these three short phrases: embrace children, develop disciples, and expand the Kingdom. Unpacking the first of these statements is the purpose of today’s post and I hope the heart behind the school is exhibited as you read. Our fuller mission statement begins, “The mission of Gainesville Preparatory School is to embrace each child as uniquely made in the image of God…” and this is a primary driving force behind the educational methods we utilize at GPS. Our classes are intentionally small to allow teachers to develop relationships with children and teenagers and personalize their learning according to their unique God-given makeup. This means at the lower school level we are able to serve gifted children as well as those who have learning differences all in the same classroom, giving each child individual attention. Gifted learners are pushed to excel through real-world application and problem-solving while struggling learners are provided further support through small-group and one-on-one tutorials with our qualified educational support services.

At the upper school level, teenagers choose to customize their learning path through on-level, College Prep, honors, Advanced Placement, and dual-enrollment classes, ensuring that they are prepared for their future, whether they enroll in college or become employed. While we offer a number of core classes and electives taught by our teachers, our catalog of classes is expanded by our partnership with Ethos School, a cutting-edge educational organization that networks Christian schools together to offer a multiplicity of classes with top-notch teachers and instructional technology. This further allows teenagers to make vital choices regarding their educational journey. Finally, study hall and educational support services are offered to those who need extra support along the way. For far too long educational entities have provided a one size fits all mold for unique children and teenagers, but at GPS, we strive to ensure that we embrace individuals and guide them along their educational journey. While we have prescribed pathways, these are flexible and are adjusted to ensure that each child owns their path and develops a lifelong love of learning. We would love to meet you and talk about how we can embrace your child or teenager as a unique individual created in the image of God!
